TOURNAMENT WEIGH-INS GUIDE

It is a privilege for Shobukan to have their own weigh-in site; however, it's become very time consuming and a grueling task for the person assisting with the weigh-ins.  Please abide by the following to make things simple on yourself and the weigh-in official:

  1. Tournament weigh-in forms will be available on WEIGH-IN day at the dojo, 50th State Judo Association website or our own website.

  2. FILL OUT FORMS COMPLETELY –

    1. Write in USJF numbers/expiration date (if you do not know your number, there is a list posted at the office entrance).

    2. Both contestant and parent (if under 18) need to sign BOTH SIDES OF THE FORM.

    3. Fill in the division and weight class you intent to compete in.

  3. WEIGH-IN will be done from 6:00 pm until no later than 7:30 pm.  The scale and the weigh-in official will be leaving promptly at 7:30 pm.

  4. When ready to weigh-in, please have the following:

    1. An application form completely filled out and signed

    2. Exact change (usually $15) or a check made payable to the “50th State Judo Association”

  5. PRACTICE WEIGH-IN – Please weigh yourself when there is no one officially weighing in.

  6. WEIGHT DIVISION – If you have any questions relating to the division and the weight class your child should play, please contact your Sensei. For novice players, the general rule is after 3 tournaments playing back-to-back your child should enter the regular (standing) division.

  7. For your information, if you are “between weights,” the weight is rounded to the next highest weight (i.e. 64.5 will be rounded to 65 lbs; 64.4 will be rounded down to 64 lbs).  Note for the Jr. National weigh-ins, the official will take the EXACT weight in kilograms and do not round off.

  8. ILLNESS – If you are ill to attend the weigh-ins and unable to make the other weigh-in sites, please call Shobukan (533-2014) during practice hours.  If you are ill the morning of the tournament, please contact a sensei to inform them you will not attend.

  9. MATCH NUMBERS – You will find out your match numbers the morning of the tournament.

  10. MATS – As a part of the 50th State Judo Association we want to assist the sponsoring clubs as much as possible with setting up and breaking down the mats.  Please help as often as you can.

  11. SCORE TABLE – In general 3 tournaments prior to our Migita Tournament Shobukan is assigned to man a scoring table.  Please offer assistance and relieve our parents when your child is not playing their match.

  12. AWARDS – If you are unable to stay for the trophy ceremony, please make arrangements with someone to pick up your trophy.
